Takuro Someya Contemporary Art is pleased to announce Ryoichi Kurokawa’s exhibition.
The exhibition period will be extended until December 14 (Sat) in time for the Kurokawa’s performance of “MUTEK.JP 2019”.
On this exhibition, an audiovisual sculpture piece constrained surface will be shown at TSCA. The audiovisual installation is composed of 2 HD displays and 2 ch sound, first presented at Lima in 2015 commissioned by Espacio Fundación Telefónica Lima.
Ryoichi Kurokawa born in 1978, lives and works in Berlin, Germany. He began experimenting with synaesthesia in audiovisual installations in the 1990s, overlapping senses of sound, sight and touch in installation and performance. Kurokawa’s works take on multiple forms such as installation works, recordings, and concert pieces. He composes the time sculpture with the field recordings and the digital generated structures, and reconstructs architecturally the audiovisual phenomenon. In recent years, his works are shown across the world at international festivals and museums including Palais de Tokyo (France 2017), Turbulences, Espace Culturel Loius Vuitton (France 2012), The 54th Venice Biennale Arsenale Novissimo (2011), Transmediale, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Germany 2010), and Synthesis, Tate Modern (England 2007). In 2010, he was awarded the Golden Nica at Prix Ars Electronica in the Digital Musics & Sound Art category. Also he’s collaborated with musicians Ryuchi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi of Yellow Magic Orchestra as well as techno artists Aoki Takamasa and Yoshihiro Hanno.
Kurokawa will also perform his new performance subassemblies at MUTEK JP in Tokyo on Saturday 14 December. A concert, art installation, sculpture exhibition and screening, subassemblies is ultimately an architectural project based on 3D data of building ruins and the encroaching nature that surrounds them. Kurokawa distorts and reconstructs that data to render rebuilt architecture that floats between nature and human-made, abstract and concrete—an in-motion hybrid reality that, through its layers of order and disorder, renews history’s accepted timeline and exposes the forces of nature and art for their combined possibilities.

Takuro Someya Contemporary Artは「特別展示｜黒川良一」
12月に予定される「MUTEK.JP 2019」への黒川良一の参加に合わせ、12月14日（土）まで会期を延長いたします。
今回TSCAでは、2015年にEspacio Fundación Telefónica Limaのコミッションによって制作されたオーディオビジュアルスカルプチャー作品《constrained surface》を特別展示しています。
黒川良一は1978年大阪生まれ。ドイツ、ベルリン在住。90年代から「Synesthesia(共感覚)」をテーマにオーディオビジュアル・インスタレーションなどで実験を始め、聴覚、視覚、触覚の複数感覚の混合状態を作品やパフォーマンスで追求しています。黒川の作品の一つの特徴として、作家自身も言及する様に時間軸を含む彫刻的な成り立ちをしています。音とビジュアル、そして特有のフォルムやコンポジションを持つ造形、そこに鑑賞者の動きや個人個人のインプレッションと合わさることで、さらに新たな感覚をもたらします。そして彼の作品を構成する音は、自然や社会にあふれる音や、独自のアルゴリズムによって生成された音、それらの重なり合うスペクトラムな存在の音、そういった多くの音は、ある種のシンフォニーとなって、私たちの意識に新たな展開をもたらすようです。
これまでの主な展覧会や演奏会として、テート・モダン（イギリス）、ポンピドゥー・センター（フランス）、ヴェネツィア・ビエンナーレ、上海民生現代美術館（中国）など。2010年には、アルス・エレクトロニカ（オーストリア）を象徴する重要なプライズとなる、デジタル・ミュージック&サウンド・アート部門でゴールデン・ニカ賞（最優秀賞）を授与されています。これまでに坂本龍一、細野晴臣、高橋幸宏や、青木孝允や半野喜弘など、他のミュージシャンとのコラボレーションがあります。
また12月14日（ 土）には、オーディオ・ビジュアルの祭典「MUTEK.JP2019」にてLINE CUBE SHIBUYA（渋谷公会堂）を会場に、黒川にとって日本で約7年ぶりとなるライブパフォーマンスとして最新作《subassemblies》を発表します。本作は、今年10月にマドリードで開催されたL.E.V.（ビジュアル・エレクトロニック・ラボラトリー）フェスティバルにおいて国際交流基金の協力事業としてはじめて披露されました。
《subassemblies》は、建築・建造物と自然が私たちの認識において交わりはじめる時間や空間の関係について、対象としたオブジェクトの持つスケール（構造や規模）を手掛かりとして追求したオーディオ・ビジュアル作品です。この作品は主にレーザースキャンによる3Dデータとして取り込まれた、建築、遺跡、残骸、それを取り巻く自然をモジュールに成り立っています。ライブパフォーマンスを通じて感じられるのは、黒川作品を印象付けるアルゴリズムが織り成す、物理法則をともなった対象の再構築や更新であり、抽象的で具体的な実感として私たちの知覚を広げます。
